Antonietta Collins

Antonietta Toni Gonzalez Collins is an Mexican American sportscaster. She is the host of SportsNation as well as a SportsCenter anchor. Her first assignment with ESPN in 2016. Her mother is Maria Antonieta Collins, a television reporter. Antonietta Collins is bilingual since the age of nine years old. It was a helpful ability that allowed her to secure her first position as a production assistant for Univision in Miami which provided her with the opportunity to be a part of the production team for national programs such as Nuestra Belleza Latina, Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud and Primer Impacto. Then, in St. Petersburg, she was then recruited as a reporter by the CBS station to work as a sports journalist. She moved in 2009 to Rio Grande Valley, Texas to become an anchor for the newscast of the Spanish station KNVO TV 48 Univision and Fox2 News. The stories she wrote about covered immigration, drug trafficking, and various other topics on the Texas and Mexico border. She was also the Spanish reporter for the newscast of 5 p.m., an anchor and reporter of the newscast from nine p.m. with a reporter and anchor in English as well as an anchor and reporter for the newscast of 9 p.m. in English, as well Spanish reporter for 10 p.m. Also, she was often requested to be a sports and weather anchor. Then she anchor and wrote on Univision's Dallas affiliate Deportes 23 where she was given more responsibilities. She produced pieces about Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS, and World Series as well Dallas Cowboys NBA postseason Finals FC Dallas, and Dallas Stars. In addition, she also hosted and produced Univision 23's Accion Deportiva Extra local sports show. She also served as the sports anchor of Despierta America Deportes morning show. She also played the role as Primer Impacto on UniMas Network and Contacto Deportivo for its magazine show. Antonietta's parents are from Veracruz Mexico. The family relocated into Mexico City where she was born on the 22nd of November, 1985. There is an older sister. In 1992, the family moved to Miami after relocating from Mexico in the US. Her parents divorced soon after and her mother remarried a naval architect called Fabio Fajardo who died from kidney cancer in 2006. The holiday in the summer that she lived with her sister living in Canton Ohio where the older Collins girl was offered a job. Antonietta was a senior high school student, but she had a clear idea of what she wanted to do in her future career. She visited Mount Union University to determine if they suited her. She loved the campus. The university also provided her with the program she was interested in. She completed her schooling and was admitted to the university for a master's degree studying media and communication studies. The professor she had was Mark Bergmann, who managed WRMU FM, and was student in her class, formed a lasting relationship with the student. Mark Bergmann inspired her to believe in herself and also his love for journalism deeply affected her. She, in turn, strived to meet the expectations of him and not fail him.
