Rachel Anne McAdams
Rachel Anne McAdams is the daughter of
Sandra Kay (Gale), an Ontario nurse, and Lance Frederick McAdams a truck driver
and furniture movers. She was born in London, Ontario on November 17th 1978.
She is Englishand is Welsh-, Irish-, and Scottish. Rachel began acting when she
was an teen. At the age of 13, she was a part of Shakespearean productions at
summer theater camp. After graduating, Rachel received a BFA degree from York
University in Theater. After appearing in Disney's The Famous Jett Jackson episode
(1998) and later, she appeared in Slings and Arrows, a Canadian comedy-drama
which follows the struggles and triumphs of an Shakespearean theater group. In
2003, she received a Gemini award. The role she played in Mean Girls (2004)
Regina George, in Mean Girls (2004) instantly earned her the attention of
Hollywood's most coveted young actresses. The film was followed by a star turn
opposite Ryan Gosling in the adaptation of the Nicholas Sparks bestseller The
Notebook (2004) The Notebook was a surprising box office success and became the
predominant romantic drama for a brand new younger generation of moviegoers.
McAdams came into contact with Gosling during filming. They began dating until
mid-2007. McAdams was then able to showcase her talents on screen in the
hilarious comedy Wedding Crashers (2005), the thriller Red Eye (2005), and the
holiday drama The Family Stone (2005).McAdams then went on to explore the world
of independent film with Married Life (2007), which premiered at the Toronto
Film Festival and also featured Pierce Brosnan, Chris Cooper and Patricia
Clarkson. She also starred in the military drama The Lucky Ones (2007) and the
newspaper thriller State of Play (2009) and the romantic comedy The Time
Traveler's Wife (2009) was followed by her role with Robert Downey Jr. and Jude
Law in Guy Ritchie's international blockbuster Sherlock Holmes (2009). McAdams
was the shrewd producer of a failed morning TV show in Morning Glory (2010),
the sexy fiancee of Owen Wilson in Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris (2011) as
well as a return to romantic drama territory with the hit film The Vow (2012)
opposite Channing Tatum. McAdams plays the lead role in Terrence Malick’s To
the Wonder (2012) with Ben Affleck and Noomi Rapacace in Brian De Palma's
thriller Passion (2012).
