Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell works as a reporter for NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has a BA degree in English from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began her career as a reporter for KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in the year 1967. In 1976, she was a CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). She was promoted to Washington general reporter for NBC News two years later. The year 1980 marked the beginning of her coverage of the White House. 1988 became the chief congressional journalist. Then, in 1992 she was appointed Chief White House Correspondent and in 1994 was appointed chief foreign affairs reporter at NBC News. Mitchell is a regular as a guest on TV news program Meet the Press as a host and panelist. Mitchell joined the panel during 1988's presidential debates, in which George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan a former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005, which was awarded by the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg Award in 2004 for her role in protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was the first reporter to report on White House stories for NBC News during Ronald Reagan's tenure as president between 1981 and 1988. She reported on a variety of notable stories, including weapons control, the budget tax reform as well as the Iran-contra scandal. She also went on numerous trips together with the president Reagan to meetings alongside Mikhail Gorbachev and other world leaders.
